Woodworking Safety Tips

Check out these tips for staying safe during any woodworking project.

DIY-ers unite! Using wood in your at-home projects can add the perfect touch, but can be dangerous if you don’t know what you’re doing. Whether you are a pro in the woodworking field or just starting out, follow these tips to ensure you never lose a valuable body part.

1. Always Wear Safety Equipment

Although this is a given, make sure you are wearing the proper safety equipment. Ear protection doesn’t always need to be used, but can be beneficial. NEVER be without safety glasses while you are working with wood, put these on immediately.

2. Unplug Everything After Use

Remember to disconnect the power source before switching blades or bits. Take an extra precaution by unplugging the tool instead of just turning off the switch. The switch can possibly malfunction or accidentally get turned on, unplugging the tool is the first precaution for this.

3. Avoid distractions

Distractions happen whether we like it or not, they are a part of everyday life. If there is something that needs your attention, ensure you finish your cut and unplug your blade before moving on.
